Erika Cortes, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Mrs. Cortes received her B.A. in Childhood Education and Social Studies from CUNY Hunter College, and her M.S. Ed in Early Childhood Education from Hunter as well. She has her certification to teach K-6 from New York. This is her twelfth year teaching, and fifth year at Harlem Link. After having spent a year out of the classroom, teaching art and providing academic intervention, she is ready to return to her 2nd Grade roots!  Mrs. Cortes enjoys traveling and encourages our scholars to become “critical thinkers” through literature immersion and class discussions.

Roland Garrison, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Mr. Garrison received his B.A. from The College of New Rochelle and his MS Ed in Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. He’s taught third grade at The Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights and at Harlem Link! Mr. Garrison is a career changer who was a Staff Sergeant in The United States Army. Additionally, Mr. Garrison worked in the fashion industry at Saks Fifth Ave in New York City. Mr. Garrison's life's philosophy is to be a life long learner, and to remain teachable. His students define him as firm but approachable.

Tamsir Gueye, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Mr. Gueye received his B.A. in English and French at University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, Senegal. He is currently a graduate student at the Relay School of Education and a Teach for America corps member. Mr. Gueye was an elementary school teacher while he was in Senegal. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, going to the gym and watching soccer games. Mr. Gueye is very excited to be a teacher at Harlem Link and join the Link family! He is committed to helping his students achieve the best education they deserve.

Ike Nweke, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Mr. Nweke has been teaching for 4 years. He received his B.S. from the University of Houston and his Masters from Relay Graduate School of Education. He enjoys traveling, singing, dancing, and having dance parties with his students. This is his first year teaching at Harlem Link! He is so excited to meet all the young smiling faces.

Shairee Sanchez, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Ms. Sanchez received her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College and has her certification to teach Grades 1 - 6 from New York State. This is her first year teaching at Harlem Link! She enjoys traveling, dancing, and rocking her natural hair in her free time.

Naudy Suarez, Second Grade Co-Teacher

Ms. Suarez received her B.A. in Psychology and Women's Studies at Lehman College and studied Cross-Cultural Psychology at Shanghai University. After her undergraduate studies, she was an adjunct for CUNY's SEEK program and worked with children who have severe and multiple disabilities in the Department of Education. Ms. Suarez is currently pursuing her M.S.Ed in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (Birth - Grade 2). This is her first year at Harlem Link and she is eager to serve students and families in her role as a Special Education teacher. Ms. Suarez's philosophy is that education brings light into the lives of children and everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself. Thus, teaching is her way of making the world a little brighter.
